Appointment against this post is on a local basis. External candidates will be considered only when no suitable internal candidate from the duty station is identified. Responsibilities:
The Movcon Assistant reports to the Movcon officer. Within limits of delegated authority, the Movcon Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
Accept, register and process correctly complied Movement of Personnel (MOP) and Cargo Movement Request (CMR) and forward to Air /Road/Sea Movcon cell for movement planning
Complete/Review passengers and cargo load planning lists and air pax manifests and submit to Movcon Officer for verification/approval.
Ensure necessary information in respect to passengers and freight movcon activities are received, displayed and updated as needed/ confirm forecast of vessel/aircraft availability, arrival and departure.
Coordinate the loading and unloading of passengers and cargo on UN contracted aircraft and vessels and supervise the handling operations of contractors when tasked for the movement.
Provide MOVCON technical advice for the execution of tasks by Contractors/vendors in connection to all passengers and freight movement to /from aircraft/vessel/truck in accordance with MOVCON existing procedures.
Ensure compliance with international/UN regulations for all movements of general and dangerous cargo and movements of passengers
Follow UN Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the section as established by Chief MOVCON.
Assist in modal selection process to ensure economic and efficient utilization of movement assets is achieved and movement is by the most economical means (according to set priorities).
Assist with the movement of contingent military personnel and cargo on UN or contracted assets into, within and out of Mission area.
Receive, register and inspect all incoming cargo.
Properly pack, mark and weigh outgoing cargo. Process outgoing cargo by approved Cargo Movement Request (CMR).

Accept/verify and register correctly CMR and liase with Movcon cargo unit for movement planning
Ensure the MovCon Warehouse is maintained in an orderly fashion including storage of cargo by destination. DG is to be segregated from general cargo
Ensure Dangerous Goods are packed in accordance with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods is compiled prior to transportation.
Liaison between Airport, Seaport, Warehouse movcon units and MOVCON HQ
Provide professional customer services to clients
Receive and action Missing Cargo Forms submitted by clients/consignee.
Process/handle documentation for all import and export cargo procedures both for sea and air movements
Keep the Chief of Movcon informed of any movement changes or delays that may affect planned operations.
Compile and update daily statistics as flights/vessels arrive and depart, and send weekly statistic reports to Chief Movcon.
Maintain warehouse inventory.
Carry out any other duties as directly by Chief Movcon.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Completion of secondary school education. College diploma in relevant discipline required.
Work Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in freight forwarding, shipping lines, airline companies and/or custom clearing agencies is required.
